Salesforce just spent 3.6 billion dollars to buy a company that builds AI agents
17 June 2026Salesforce just spent 3.6 billion dollars to buy a company that builds AI agents. That number is the headline. The shift underneath it is the real story.
Fin, the company formerly known as Intercom, signed the deal on 15 June 2026. Salesforce folded it straight into Agentforce, which already crossed 1.2 billion dollars in annual recurring revenue last quarter.
B2B revenue tooling is moving from software you operate to agents that operate for you.
The part most teams get wrong: buying agents is the easy decision. Redesigning how your sellers actually work around those agents is the hard one, and it decides whether the spend pays off.
Bolting an agent onto an old workflow just gives you a faster version of the same bottleneck.
Pick one repeatable task your sellers do every week. Hand it to an agent that can own it end to end. Measure the hours returned and the pipeline created.
The companies that win the next cycle will rebuild the motion, not just buy the tool.
